☀️ MORNING & NIGHT ROUTINES 🌕

I wrote about few self love practices the other day. Following that, I want to share what worked for me as morning and night routines ✨

.

Why have a morning or night routine?

.

In the morning, it sets you up for a good mood to start the day. In the evening, it helps you rewind and have a better quality of sleep. You’re using your energy and body a lot more efficiently.

.

🤩 Having a morning routine 🤩

.

For the last 6 years, I’ve been trying loads of things as morning routines. This is what I found that works for me.

.

Now I do this:

- I wake up, check my temperature for Natural Cycles. Yes this has became a thing 😍 It is a natural birth control method.

- I make my bed. It sets you up for already feeling good for completing a task, productivity etc.

- I brush my teeth, wash my face etc

- I do yoga for 20 minutes. Check out downdog app - alternative - 15 squats and 30 sec plank

- I do my morning pages. 3 pages of brain dump for around 30 minutes - if not 15 minutes ✍🏼

.

You might say, I don’t have 30 minutes in the morning to fluff about. Start with 10 minutes, do that for a week then add another 10 minutes. For your wellbeing, happiness and inner peace. Even writing 10 mins as a restart can do sometimes. See what works for you.

.

I used to be very controlling with this having a full on routine lasting for an hour. Then I went to the other side of the spectrum and had no routine whatsoever for a year.

.

Some days when I don’t have time, I skip the yoga and write for 10 minutes. Don’t beat yourself up with this.

.

Best thing you can do in the morning is not checking for your phone UNTIL after breakfast. Sometimes I do that and it feels great. These days, I check it after writing, before breakfast 😊

.

😴 Having a night routine 😴

.

It’s nearly impossible to increase your quality of sleep when you dive into your bed just after working on your laptop. An hour calmdown is the best, if you can’t do that half an hour will do too.

.

This is what I do now:

- I start with taking a bath sometimes, definitely not every night.

- I read a fiction book or novel. This helps your mind to rewind.

- I have warm milk with honey. I had it every night as a kid, I still love it. If you’re not into milk, try apple cider vinegar in tea and honey 🍯

.

Even reading a fiction book for 10 minutes with chamomile tea is a night routine. Keep it simple to start with.

.

There is no morning and night routine polices. If you’re naturally a more driven person, start with one step a day, do that for a week before adding everything else. Otherwise it becomes just another to do list. Don’t be hard on yourself.

.

If you’re naturally a more going with the flow person, make sure you do one thing whether it’s journaling or moving your body. This will activate the part of you that is more likely to finish tasks. Not having a routine is a routine as well, you don’t have to rebellious against yourself about this, it’s for your own wellbeing.

.

I would love to hear what you find works for you as a morning or night routine 😍
