This is by far the most loving protest I’ve ever seen ❤️

Extinction Rebellion is non-violent protests happening all across London, raising awareness to climate change and our disconnection from our planet. People gather, dance, talk, sing and camp in these sites. On Monday, I was at Oxford Circus dancing. Tonight, I went to Waterloo bridge. We gathered around, lit candles, sang together and sat in silence while the police stood watching.

6 years ago, in Istanbul, Turkey there were Gezi Park protests. The government wanted to turn one of the very few parks in Istanbul into a shopping mall. People went mental. They blocked the roads to the park and camped at the park. I did too for few days as I was back home for the holidays. Then the police came in with tear gas and water spray causing many people to get injured, even die. The whole thing ended up being pretty violent and court cases from back then still continues. Today though, the park is still there.

Both of these protests showed me the power of connection and togetherness when we share the same intention. Protests don’t have to come from anger, when they do, they create even more anger. Love is so much more powerful ❤️

Also Extinction Rebellion feels like a super chilled festival after dodging tear gas at Gezi Park protests 😂
