đ« HOW MUCH MORE THERE IS TO LIVING? đ«
I read the book âJonathan Livingston Seagullâ by Richard Bach 10 years ago and I absolutely loved it. The other day, I came across it and read it again.
.
Itâs a super short book about being free to be your true self.
.
Itâs a story of a seagull called Jonathan who doesnât want to live his life just flying around fishing boats trying to find food. He wants to unlock the true power of flying and go beyond what he was shown.
.
His parents keep telling him to leave his love of flying and just stick to finding food. Being who he is, he keeps experimenting and breaks the speed limit in his flock. Feeling so excited to have done something unheard of, rather than being celebrated, he gets shamed and casted out from his flock.
.
As he flies on his own, he comes across few seagulls that are like him. They take him to a world where more seagulls like them exists who are not afraid of flying beyond what they know.
.
He meets his teacher from whom he learns how his true nature is limitless and how he can be everywhere across time and space at once rather than feeling trapped in a limited body.
.
He tells him, âTo fly as fast as thought, to anywhere that is, you must begin by knowing that you have already arrived.â âš
.
He practices passionately and willingly every day. Then his teacher tells him to go back to his flock to teach everything he had learnt. He feels resistant and hesitant towards going back to the flock he was thrown out of. Realising teaching is in him, he goes.
.
As he flies around, students who were also thrown out of the flock for going beyond the rules find him. All of them were surprised to see how fast he could fly as they were all taught limits about what seagulls can do or canât do. Jonathan teaches them how theyâre free, always. Itâs their mind that tells them otherwise.
.
Over time, when his students didnât need Jonathan anymore, he encourages them to go off to teach other seagulls as he did. Whenever a seagull heard of Jonathan, they thought of him like God of seagulls only to realise they had the same power within them. The kind of flying he did has always been there to be learnt by anyone who wanted to discover it.

When you feel trapped in a survival mode, just remember:
.đ« Youâre here to be so much more than just to survive.
.
When you settle for safety, life settles for you and you stay at a survival level operating from your limited self. When you choose to go beyond what you know, your limitless self steps in and gets in the driving seat to create. Thatâs where the magic happens if you surrender.
.âš âYouâre never given a dream without also being given the power to make it true.â - Richard Bach âš

This is what this story reminded me of. I hope it reminds you too. Itâs a wonderful book, I highly recommend đ€
